Movies

True confession time: Tracie and Taylor have got me watching Hallmark mystery movies.  In the beginning, I’ll admit, I thought maybe me watching four or five Mystery 101s would get me a family screening of Lawrence of Arabia.  (The investment of time is roughly the same.)  But I’ll admit, I actually enjoy the movies themselves. …

OK, Hal has been watching videos on Facebook again.  Someone unplug his modem before he turns into one of those people who is always linking to clips of baby goats and puppies.  Anyway, this one was of a driver and would-be Sonic customer who seemed to have confused the concepts of drive-in and drive-thru.

Price

A show I dearly love is coming to town, and I checked to see if the $98 ticket price was perhaps a misprint.  Turns out it’s not only accurate, it’s moderate.  Much higher prices for tickets are available.  And much, much higher ticket prices are posted for other live events later in the year.

Movies

I have been preaching some sermons lately about the lessons we can take from the movies — combating real-world monsters, the difference between “sci” and “fi,” that sort of thing.  It’s basically a naked attempt to grab the attention of young people with a spiritual message that, in the absence of sparkly vampires and talking turtles, they might ignore.  Future sermons are likely to include lessons on the vigilante mentality (action movies), the false allure of “love at first sight” (romances), and the willingness to take a stand for principle (westerns).  Y’all come.
