Cranberry

Drinking cranberry juice is good for urinary tract infections.  You’ve heard that, right?  Because, like, science.  Or your neighbor told you.  Or some guy on the internet whose first name is Doctor said so.

Well, it seems the jury is still out.  Infections are actually treated with antibiotics, not juice.  The main benefit of cranberry juice for UTI sufferers is the water content — which, of course, is diminished by all the high fructose corn syrup.  And the main study that is cited to “prove” the efficacy of the cranberry juice treatment?  Turns out it was financed by Ocean Spray.  You’re heard of them, right?  They sell cranberry juice.

Just because someone says something is true doesn’t make it so.  For that matter, just because I say it’s false doesn’t make it false, either.  Our sources of information are flawed.  Biases, personal agendas and skewed perspectives are the rule, not the exception.

What we really need is an unbiased, unimpeachable source of truth — something that is right all the time, because it comes from someone who is right all the time.

That is the miracle that we have in the Bible.  It is absolute truth (John 17:17).  It is the light to your path (Psalm 119:105). It will show you the Savior (John 20:30-31), who will in turn show you the Father (John 14:6).

So it says.  What do you say?

Take whatever position you want on cranberries.  Worst-case scenario is manageable either way.  But accept the unassailable fact that your position on the Bible is completely different.  Accept it as truth.  Don’t accept it as truth.  Either way, it is literally the only issue that matters in your life.

So take the decision seriously.  Then make a serious decision.
